The French family has farmed in Ontario since 1887, and Brian and Jeannette French now live on the farmstead in Melancthon. Rhubarb, English peas and Brussels sprouts are the main crops, with herbs, flowers and other vegetables beside them. The self-serve market on County Road 124 opens Thursday to Monday from late March through October. Along with the vegetables, look for jams, fruit syrups, pickles, fresh baking and rhubarb juice.

Farmer-reported

"While in the past we have focused on sustainable farming practices such as crop rotations, cover cropping, and planting trees and fence lines for windbreaks, we have begun to implement new technologies and several regenerative agriculture practices."
