Robert and Lisa Shuh grow Gala, Honeycrisp and Ambrosia apples on 50 acres outside West Montrose, and the Shuh family has farmed around Elmira since 1918. The farm opens daily from mid-August to the end of October: a day pass covers a wagon ride through the orchard, the corn maze and a petting zoo with alpacas, goats, sheep and lemurs, with apple picking from early September. Pre-picked apples sell by the pound at the roadside stand, no pass needed.
